  • **Hands-on workshops designed to provide in-depth exploration of a topic, offered as a pre-conference add-on.
  • **Conference registration is required.
  • **Intensive programs are offered on a first come, first served basis with participation caps.

Participants may choose the faculty member to provide the critique and or review.

MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUES 

PLEASE READ MEET THE 2019 FACULTY  to understand faculty interests and pay attention to the preferences listed below each faculty member. The process of formatting and submitting are listed under Tips, Tidbits & The Inside Scoop and you may click on the links below. (there are a MAXIMUM of nine critique slots  available for each member of the critique faculty, and some specify fewer than the maximum number).

  • Categories:  Picture Book (PB).  Chapter Book (CH).  Middle Grade (MG)  Young Adult (YA)
  • Genres:  Contemporary. Historical. Nonfiction. Mystery/Thriller. SciFi/Fantasy.
  • Download SUBMISSION INFORMATION  This is a listing of all faculty who are providing consultations, if you submit digitally or via USPS, what categories they are accepting, and what genres they will critique.

**Limit two critique submissions [but you may choose an editor OR an agent but not both]  and one review request.

ONE ON ONE CONSULTATIONS 

We are offering our participants an opportunity for a fifteen minute One-On-One session with an editor or agent. Sessions are schedule on Saturday during the conference. All participants must submit digitally.  Visit One-On-One

PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

Portfolio Reviews are an opportunity for a twenty minute session with an art director or a published illustrator and include WiFi access to receive feedback on illustrator website.

PORTFOLIO SHOWCASE

Saturday, September 28; 6:00 to 7:30 pm

Illustrators are encouraged to bring a portfolio to be displayed during the Saturday evening social.

BOOKSTORE SALES

Books by conference faculty and SCBWI members who are published in the children’s market and attending the conference are offered for sale at the conference bookstore. Attendees may submit one book at Conference Bookstore with title and ISBN by Monday August 19, to be included in the conference bookstore.

We welcome suggestions by registered members of the conference suggesting a craft book for our bookstore. You may submit one book at bookstore list with title and ISBN by Monday August 19, to be included in the conference bookstore. 

AUTOGRAPH PARTY

Conference faculty & SCBWI members published in the children’s market attending the conference will be available to sign books.

PAL ROUNDTABLE

SCBWI PAL authors and illustrators attending the conference share insights in an informal Q&A session.

ILLUSTRATOR’S CAFÉ 

Sunday, September 29; 8:00 AM to 1o:15 AM

FIRST IMPRESSIONS For Illustrators 

The Illustrator’s Café is an informal gathering to assimilate new ideas, and share experiences and observations from the weekend’s activities. Images submitted for First Impressions will be reviewed during this session.

Macmillan Art Director Mallory Grigg will be on hand to answer questions. Ms. Grigg will not be able to offer individual portfolio reviews or critiques of additional work during this session.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Bring a children’s book [new or gently used] to donate to an area reading program. Donations are received at the registration table until 12:00 pm Saturday, September 28.
