Molly Beth Griffin is a graduate of Hamline University’s MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults, and has been teaching picture book writing at the Loft Literary Center since 2009.

Molly has published two picture books, Loon Baby (Houghton Mifflin, 2011) and Rhoda’s Rock Hunt (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2014) and has two more forthcoming in 2020 and 2021. Her YA novel, Silhouette of a Sparrow (Milkweed Editions, 2012), won the Milkweed Prize for Children’s Literature, was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award and the Lambda Literary Award. In 2018 she released two poetry chapbooks with Finishing Line Press: Under Our Feet and All the Hollow Places. The first four titles of her beginning reader series, School Sidekicks, just came out with Capstone in January, and four more titles will follow this August. Molly’s writing has been awarded two grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board as well as a prestigious McKnight Fellowship. She is represented by Jennifer Flannery of Flannery Literary.

Molly critiques manuscripts, visits schools, and hosts a free monthly Picture Book Salon in Minneapolis, where she lives with her partner and their two kids.  For more info on Molly: http://mollybethgriffin.com/about/ 

 

Sarah Jane Abbott is an assistant editor for Paula Wiseman Books and Beach Lane Books at Simon & Schuster. She started her career at S&S as a publicity assistant in 2013 before joining Paula Wiseman Books and Beach Lane Books as editorial assistant in 2014. She is also on the editorial boards of Simon & Schuster’s OfftheShelf.com and RivetedLit.com. She is actively seeking agented and SCBWI submissions for Paula Wiseman Books. She loves quirky, character driven picture books with a lot of heart and unique, literary middle grade novels.
